Wordless Wednesday: Who is it? Candygram,ma’am.

Land Shark

 Cue the Jaws theme . . .

  • Victim: Yes?
  • Shark: Mrs. Arlsburg?
  • Victim: Who?
  • Shark: Mrs. Barganuke?
  • Victim: Who is it?
  • Shark: Flowers.
  • Victim: Flowers for whom?
  • Shark: Plumber ma’am.
  • Victim: I don’t need a plumber. You’re that clever shark aren’t you
  • Shark: Candygram.
  • Victim: Candygram my foot. You get out of here before I call the police. You’re the shark and YOU know it.
  • Shark: Wait. I’m only a dolphin, ma’am.
  • Victim: A dolphin? Well, okay. (Opens door and screams)

Right, that’s from the infamous SNL Land Shark skit from November 1975. Who remembers watching that live on that Saturday night?  Hey, all you people under 40 can put your hands down now. We know better.

My generation not only was there for this landmark comedy, but we repeated the dialog as a running gag.

Some of have even kept it up for the last 37 years.

  7. LOL – yes, yes I do still assume my Land-shark voice when replying “Candy-gram” on occasion. 😉

Love the pictures and needed a laugh. Thanks.

  8. SNL was worth staying up for back then. Or maybe I just can't stay up that late now, lol.

Did you see on Eukanuba's FB page today? They've posted the latest shots from the six week photo shoot. Just adorable. I shared the same photo link on the Raising a Super Dog FB page too. https://www.facebook.com/RaisingASuperDog

  9. Oh sure, just when I think I'm in my prime of life someone uses that dog years math on me. Your mum and I, we're experienced in what life tosses our way.

Even if it's land sharks. We're on it.

  13. I don't have a problem with revealing my age. Mostly.

It's when I hear something like “it's the 40th anniversary of the first Led Zeppelin album” that I get completely bugged by the passing of years.

Then it's time to do a mental inventory of the bucket list and see what's left to check off, LOL.

  14. The original SNL cast was legendary and possibly enhanced by pharmaceuticals. It was the '70's, of course. A lot of the comedy has done well over the span of years, even though back then it was considered edgy.

  15. Well, Sugar, you're way too young to know about such history, you sweet thing. Hugs to you guys, thanks for stopping by.

  16. Indeed, Micron rates pretty low on the scary scale. The worst this guy can do is leave dog hair on your sugar daddy sucker. Wait, do they still make those? This whole conversation string has me stuck in some nostalgic mindset.

  17. It's a good day when I knock on a cubicle “door” at work and say Candygram! and the person laughs. It's not so good when they look at me like I've lost my mind. We seem to be hiring younger folk all they time.

  18. Thanks, Flea. Micron's glad to get some mileage out that costume and make folk smile. We appreciate you stopping by and a happy WW to you all.

  19. Hi Christie, thanks for coming by the dog blog on WW. The puppy photo at bottom is actually Micron as a young pup. He's trolling the carpet like a shark and opening that maw to snatch poor Jager's leg. Tail like a dorsel fin, that photo makes me laugh.
